Listen, it's a plausible theory, I'll give you that, but that's just all it is, a thing you and other people made up to give the game a back story based on some hints that can be interpreted in a number of ways.
And seeing as the majority of the people in this thread seem to be the sane half of /u/, suggesting they are mother and daughter doesn't digest very well here.
And I know most other places on the internet suggest they are but it's never proven, and the people here don't want to believe it either.
She never sings "My beloved daughter' either, it's never even said it's made by GLaDOS anyway, but that's beside the point. The turrets sing something along the lines of 'my dear, my baby, my child' and, since the song is an opera, it's meant more metaphorical in my opinion. Opera's have the habit of using pretty words and being cryptic you know. Chell really is an child of aperture and everything in it after all, the time she spend there changed her forever, and now that she left it formed her.
And just to add in my own two cents, I think if Cave and Caroline had a kid he would have boasted about it in one of his speeches, or at least mention it when he was dying. Or something about him an Caroline being romantically involved. Chell could very well be a child of an lower employee though, which would make the whole 'child of Aperture Science ' even more true.
The thing is that even before Portal 2 I found the way things work between Chell and GLaDOS incredibly strong, deep and a little romantic in a twisted sort of way, GLaDOS suddenly being Caroline, or even worse, being her mom would kill that off, and I think that this is true for most people here, though they may think about their relationship differently (As I find their connection more psychological, deep and spiritual as opposed to the more material and physical way normal relations work)
And please remember you're here on /u/
