what could I do to improve this guys? This is my first attempt at a halfway-decent wallpaper, and I was wondering if it was any good.

oh yeah, and sorry about the funky measurements.

don't go with such a dim/blurry background. also, move the "bring friends" closer to the lower right. it should come off more as an afterthought than the main theme of the picture.

text in center brings FAR to much attention to it

id say use 80-90% white(very light grey) for the text

or

you could fade the text into the background, brighten up the 4 bit and make it the central focus, rather than having the user read text

and this is prolly just the preview, but use a better quality encoding on the final file, that gradient in the background looks HORRIBLE atm.

other than that it looks good for a first attempt.
