Wow this thread brings back memories, and makes me a little sad. Growing up I owned every single Calvin and Hobbes book and used to save up my allowance to buy the ones I didn't have and complete my collection. I had seen every single strip from the series and used to read and re-read the books until they fell apart. It was a huge part of my childhood, and even though half the time the more philosophical and political strips escaped me, I still read them and smiled. Once I was in high school, I started driving, having girlfriends and etc, I sort of forgot about them, but every once in a while I would cozy up with a book and read it all the way through. When I was 16 we moved from South Carolina to Indiana, and my Calvin and Hobbes books were left behind.
My guess is that they're sitting in the attic of my old house, boxed-up. It kills me to think that such a huge part of my life is sitting somewhere gathering dust.
But on the other hand, I truly hope that some kid has either found or been given my collection of Calvin and Hobbes, and will take a break from Halo 3 or whatever to read them, and fall in love with the characters and the atmosphere of the comic in the same way I did.
