>>4417770>>4417770>>4417770>>4417770Steampunk was started as a literary movement primarily by the historical fiction novel The Difference Engine written by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling but through its picturing of a mechanically advanced steam/victorian era has called far older classic works in to the new genre ie. Jules Vern and H G Wells. Cyberpunk was actually also primarily made popular by William Gibson, specifically his "Sprawl Trilogy" which consist of Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive. (my favorite book of all time is Neuromancer)
Cyberpunk is defined by "low life, high tech"
Fashion has been drawn from these two movements mainly within the goth scene, renaissance faires (for steampunk), and the total nerd community, as far as I have noticed.
