Talking about stuff like this, I just got reminded of my creepiest experience in an abandoned house.
It was something like 2002 and I was still living in Japan. My friend Tristan told me he'd found a house nearby so we set about climbing over the fence. The Hanshin earthquake had left quite a few houses in states of disrepair so we thought this was going to be just another one of those.
First thing we noticed when we got in was that everything was still as if someone lived there. There was a TV, a coffee table with plates. If the whole thing wasn't so dusty it would have looked like a normal house.
As our eyes got accustomed to the darkness I saw these yellow triangle markers. The first one I saw had the number 12 on it. As we walked through the living room there were more of these markers. Each one had a number on it.
I looked out the large glass window of the living room and saw even more of these yellow things in the overgrown garden.
And then it clicked. We were standing right smack dab in the middle of a crime scene. One which no one had ever returned to since.
Like any self-respecting boy would do, I GTFO'd as fast as I could out of that dark dingy house.
