>>8GMO food is not "slowly killing us", peer reviewed scientific studies demonstrate the complete lack of any harmful element to any GMO products in circulation. There is not a single study that says otherwise, if you can come up with one it's because it hasn't been peer reviewed or exposed to any kind of scrutiny that will demonstrate the shoddy science used.
A basic understanding of simple logic for fourth graders allows anyone to identify what genetically modifying something is and how it benefits the world massively. It's the process of mapping the genetic code of a plant and altering the program; removing weaknesses to diseases that wipe entire harvests leading to famine and death; inserting genes that make plants produce harmless pesticides found elsewhere in nature, meaning you don't have to use toxic pesticides that pollute the water; and increase yield so you can actually capable of feeding people.
The whole thing is no different from selective breeding, pigs we breed for meat are something we made; they are a totally different kind of animal to the wild version we tamed so many years ago but that's apparently fine to eat.
The above are the reasons it makes me so mad to have to listen to anyone talk about GMO food "killing us". It's one of the most anti-intellectual, anti-progress statements a person can make and it belongs in the fucking dark ages where any entire village just dies because there was a bad harvest one year. The anti-GMO camp just has no response when you point out that if we all farmed "organic" food yields would be so low you couldn't feed the world. There are too many people and not nearly enough farm land.
