While no doubt there have been some real people responding to these threads initially, it has over time become obvious that there is some form of automated bumping taking place. Either a bot is involved, or some incredibly mentally disturbed person is going out of his way to prevent over 60 threads from 404ing (that's more than 4 full pages of of the 16).
There are no mods, no janitors, and [email protected] has not responded to dozens (hundreds?) of emails about this problem.
Yes, /r9k/ regulars can use 4chanX to identify and hide these threads, but new posters won't know which are which and just see a never-ending wave of shitty threads. They will quickly get bored and leave. This bot is strangling /r9k/ by driving away new posters, and re-enforcing the negative, depressive atmosphere of the board.
Don't believe me? Check pages 12-15 for greentext threads that are dying with only a handful of posts, while shitty bot threads have 200+.
What can we possibly do to breathe new life into this place?

Man this is creepy. I browsed /r9k/ a little bit in 2009 and more regularly in 2010 before the shutdown. There were always the depressing neckbeard threads but they werent as severe as now and kind of felt more natural. When I came back I was just apauled at the state of this place. It blows my mind to think its one gu,y but it kind of feels like it, I swear ive argued with this guy on here before. Id recognize a simialar kind of posting style and bitterness on a regular basis. We really need to put more work in to get this board more diverse. Maybe get the other boards in on this to help us.
Anonymous
all the OP's linked threads are dead really I think a simpler explanation for the state of this board is mental illness. i mean really the whole of 4chan is flooded with mental cases. i did get a laugh out of the conspiracy angle though.

URGENT NOTICE BUMP FOR ALL /r9k/ and did we ever start a new thread?
Anonymous
>>2595255 OP here.
I'm still keeping track.
There's no real need to start a new thread until more time has passed, and a clear pattern of automated bumps has been established.
However, please upvote the thread on chanarchive to prevent deletion. It's currently negative.

I think the bot threads are a conspiracy created by the creator of the anti bot thread to get veto power over /r9k/s content. It's become a witchunt with accusations flying in every thread. tinfoil out
Anonymous
>>2597093 despite all of the evidence we've gathered that says otherwise..
Anonymous
>>2597124 Your evidence only proves how sophisticated the conspiracy really is. Open your minds, the world of acceptable content on /r9k/ is being limited by the botfags.
Anonymous
>>2597149 in order for a conspiracy to exist, there needs to be more than one person behind it, and in this case there is only one, craig
the only content being limited fits a specific criteria, once you are aware of it they stick out like a sore thumb

I wouldn't be surprised if deadbanshee is now calling all threads that aren't his own bot threads to discredit the effort to rectify the problem.
This for example is the what is seen in bot threads

If the bot thread is getting legitimate discussion let it, and don't interfere until you can point out the posts that raise it from the depths of the 15 page
Anonymous
>>2597505 >If the bot thread is getting legitimate discussion let it, and don't interfere until you can point out the posts that raise it from the depths of the 15 page Agreed. Or if you aren't sure don't post. There are obvious bot threads and ones that could go either way. Ignore the latter until/ unless bots start bumping them. It focuses our goal. Makes it clearer.
We should also quote the proof from this thread when we sage in addition to the topic. Make sure to explain why if asked and be calm when arguing, even if you think it's Banshee. Don't accuse them of being him no matter what. The goal is to win allies, not lose them. Third parties will read what we say, they're who we need to convince.

>>2597628 I liked this explanation

>>2597038 "I am really sorry if it is not a bot thread it is just they are stereotyped by simple personal questions that often don't promote discussion or survey threads. They seem designed to make everyone think that this is a very depressing board where we are all really fucked up.
As it stands there was a bot thread similar to this that lasted close to a month not that long ago. My sincere apologies to OP if he was trying to have a philosophical discussion because I am for that, however in the way it was written it makes me think this is deadbanshees work.
Though deadbanshees threads could have some interesting discussion he would never let the threads die trying to change /r9k/'s representation. Till the bot's leave threads like (if it is not botted) will be replaced by the other bot threads and treated suspiciously."
maybe have variations of that + include info pic on how to tell if there is a bot thread -> signs

This is why I odn't particularly like this idea, it's starting to sound a lot like redditors downvoting something into deletion.
