Every submissive character in Nana to Kaoru has been shown in a better light than Kaoru. Nana's got problems too of course being the heroine, but Kaoru's the one who really needs to get his act together.
Also, Nana to Kaoru is a harem series? Since when? The shop owner has nothing to do with Nana and Kaoru aside from kind of mentoring them a bit. And Tachi's more of an unwanted intruder (and after her last appearance, I think she's really a switch anyway). The series is called Nana to Kaoru for a reason. It's about THEM.
