nevermind that the tech in watch dogs still falls into the science fiction territory because the real world is not quite there yet

What I'm mostly trying to say is that our real world has become uncomfortably familiar with the things I only used to read about in cyberpunk fiction.

Except the real world is there yet. Only nobody wired all systems of a city into a single city because it's a fucking dumb idea for obvious reasons. And augmented reality is pretty much here already, just not widespread since corporate assholes haven't figured how to profit from it yet.
