Because a secret can be anything that takes some effort to find in the game, whether it be plot related or a special item or an easy way to do things. An easter egg is something entirely unrelated to the game and generally humorous or broken that the designers slip in for the fun of it and is an entirely different thing you massive fucking dipshit.

They're shit, up close, but the sum is greater than the parts. The environments in the game are actually really stunning, but indoor areas look like ass because you can see all the low res textures. Just saying.

You can even find the character model of Dart, the originally planed protagonist.

The DS Castlevania games have a few also.

Pretty much every GoW 3 easter egg I found pretty awesome.
The dancing wretch and crying Dom were my favorites. The crying Dom one is kinda creepy, but an easter egg should be.

On the map mercy, make a match with no bots or anything, and go into the church place. Wait until the bell rings, and on the stone at the back of the church will have the picture of Dom and Maria sitting on it, and when you go close enough to it, you hear Dom crying, even though he isn't there.

Its tied with Deus Ex as my favorite game ever, but hey, that's just me. It has problems and I understand why someone might not like it.
As a side note, Double Fine put out a steam update just a few days ago that tweaks a few gameplay problems. There's no better time than now to get in on it.

About Deus Ex, The Nameless mod seem to have many of them, altought they mostly seem to be..eggs, I dont know what else I havent finished the game yet.

I wonder if a game as serious as Amnesia has any of them.

Umm, Spelunky. If you go into the training level as the tunnelman, and dig the blocks under the entrance, you will find a cat etched into the background. :3

guess what has both? Gears of War 3, yes it has a big head mode.

You know it isnt really EE related, but I would PAY to have Timesplitters 2..or was it 3, cheats and no I am not referring to unlimited ammos and big heads, real cheats. The devs said they exist but nobody discovered them yet.

There's also a guy wearing a Doom 3 shirt, but I didn't take a shot of it just cause it's too obvious. There's also an id logo for your vehicles, but again not that subtle.
