Also I have a question for you fellow stalkers. I've just finished my first playthrough of Call of Pripyat without mods and I'm wondering which mod should I use for my second playthrough.

I'm currently stuck between Swartz Mod, Sigerious Mod and Redux ; I don't want to get I Work Alone since I'd rather wait for Misery to be done (it's basically IWA on steroids and other features right?). Could you help me fellow stalkers?

I got these from some people in a previous thread. They helped me start out.
Also, don't pick up ALL the ammo you see. If you do, your inventory will weigh quite a bit. It's not necessary to carry around a thousand rounds of pistol ammo.

Just quit the Redux mod. I don't know guys, rather than being a hardcore experience the difficulty is more akin to a kid throwing a tantrum. I'm installing Complete now. All I want from a CoP mod is better AI, better graphics and no bugs. I'm perfectly capable of not looting more than I need and limiting my loadout and weapon choice by myself. I don't need a mod to slap me in the face and say YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING, HAVE FUN.

Beginner's tips

-Start with SoC (of course!). Try without mods first! Look for mods later. Proper play order is SoC > (CS) > CoP.
-ZRP (Zone Reclamation Project) is a fine mod for 1st timers, as it does not change gameplay or graphics, only fixes errors in the game.

-AMK 1.4 for challenge, atmosphere and more content. Complete 2009 for visuals and slightly easier gameplay. LURK for total overhaul.
-Play on a high difficulty. Master is the best. Improves AI and gun-damage, to both ways.
-Disable crosshair. Trust me, you don't need it, you don't want to hip-fire unless targets are just a few meters away from you.

-Check your other Options and key-bindings! Read the Manual! These can teach you more than you'd imagine.
-In the beginning, choose to get "Brainwashed", this gives you a short tutorial.
-Read your in-game PDA often!

-In fights, always use cover. Stay low. Aim with your weapons. Set automatic guns to semi- or burst-mode for more accuracy.
-Aim for the head. From long distance aim to center mass.
-Select your ammo-type according the enemy. AP-rounds against most humans, regular ammo against mutants or less armored personnel.

-Don't hoard too much stuff with you. Vodka and food weight a ton, so don't have too much with you. Only loot what you need, or what you can sell quickly for some nice cash. Drop extra stuff to some stash to wait your return.
-Explore! You may find tons of free items, alternative routes and interesting things. Just remember to save often!

I kinda wish the hunting shotgun was more like the one in killing floor, really strong but very hard to use

That's AMK's toz. The recoil is a MOTHERFUCKER but it's beautiful.

Actually one of the reasons I dropped the mod. Standard Stalker playthroughs are with a TOZ, FORT-12 and GP37

Like what the fuck ever happened to just making mods that added zones, area's, buildings, monsters, weapons to the game?

Like the Atmosphere mod, I load it up, go into the tanker, save game and quit it, come back and play it a few hours later, walk outsize, fog so thick you can't see 2ft infront of you, meanwhile enemies still have bionic vision and can spot you and take you down without effort

So I sleep in the tanker for a day, step outside, now there's some fucking stupid radiation fog

All I wanted was better weather and skybox effects, not to get buttfucked by fuckheads cranking the difficulty to absurd levels

In all my AMK playthroughs, I did not die of random "heart attacks" even once. Most likely, he died of starvation, which can seldom, but happen if sleeping for 8 hours after not having eaten for a while.

Adding new gameplay areas has not been possible at all until recently when GSC released the dev kits. Most mods do add weapons. There's no monsters to really restore anymore, and new enemies tend to look and act silly.

You mean AtmosFear? Your own reason for not reading the description, not paying attention to the installation options, and for not disabling the new features.

Mods are most often meant for people who are familiar with the vanilla experience. Especially in case of CoP some extra challenge is really needed, as it was the easiest Stalker game ever. It had great gameplay, but no real challenge; atmosphere was lacking as well.

I haven't heard anything bad about AF3. I often recommend getting the latest versions of the mod, unless there's some clear incompatibility issues or something.
For example SWO2.2 works better with AMK1.4 than SWO3.1

It was possible, and many people did it. See: Priboy Story, which was released several years before the dev kit. AMK, same. Fucking Narodnaya Solyanka was in development LONG before the dev kit was released.

The thing is, it was and still is a pain in the ass to add new areas, because of the shear amount of work it takes to compile levels, level spawns, meshes, AI nodegraphs etc. It's a fucking PAIN.

Is there a way to combine the Complete 2009 mod with a Weapon mod that adds a lot of new guns? I love the VSS Vintorez but I'd enjoy a new arrangement of guns to play with as well.

I'm shocked that you even need to ask.
SoC is the most modded Stalker game so far!

If you're already done with vanilla and want some new content and challenge, get AMK1.4 + some visual mods:

Next paste the gamedata folder of the 1.0005 fix into the stalker folder, if needed.
The Retranslation fix is not YET finished, but install it last. In all cases just keep overwriting your Gamedata-folder.

Can I just ignore helping the factions in Clear sky and just continue on with the story? I'm still in the swamps and these clear sky chuckle fucks can't handle fighting 5 bandits with half working pellet guns (which wouldn't be a problem if they didn't comeback every five seconds).

I wouldn't recommend using Complete 09 at all though. Bad performance, casual-level difficulty reducing tweaks, some plain simply design raping visual changes... and bad compatibility with other mods.

If you can run SoC, you can run the sequels with similar settings. There's more advanced graphical features available for those who can run them.

If you'd upgrade your GPU to something like GTX460 / 560ti, you could run them all maxed.

Full Dynamic Lighting was the highest quality mode in SoC, but CS and CoP offer Enhanced Full Dynamic modes as well. While those might cause problems for you, regular FDL should play OK.

For both CS and CoP I'd recommend using Absolute Nature & Structures -mods for improved environment textures. They also increased (!) my framerates a bit.

it's a "bug" related to the Arsenal unfortunately.
AMK already increases the strength of guns a lot, Arsenal takes this even further. This means that even the most basic weapons are helluva deadly.
This combined with the fact that the pistols tend to have better handling characteristics tend to make the NPCs favor sidearms quite often.

Common problem with AMK. The AI pathing doesn't vary, but the anomalies do with each blowout in AMK, or when the area is generated for the first time. Your only option is to reload a save before entering the area or use a blowout to randomize the anomalies, and then pray he doesn't walk into any, which is pretty damn unlikely.

Happens to a lot of people. It won't be the last time AMK kills an NPC either. Just kill him yourself so you can get his data (the anomaly destroys inventories). You'll miss out on a better psi helmet I think, but the story is otherwise fine.

Kill the zombies in the tunnel, then use your sleeping bag under the tunnel just near the entrance. You'll most likely be waken up by a blowout. Tunnel will protect you, wait it out then cross. Kruglov should then be able to cross without problem.

Completed CoP some time ago. Was too easy, and somewhat too shallow. Was a fun as shit game though. I have been looking for mods for some time now, and i had figured that i would wait for the misery mod.
But then i saw that stream with a guy playing SGM blackbyte edition.
And now i need to play stalker so very, Very badly.

I beat CoP once vanilla. What should I do for second playthrough? I'm already playing a bit of I Work Alone but it isn't tickling my fancy. Should I just wait for Misery and continue playing SoC for now?

I have the same thing in SoC when I force AA through the drivers. It's 13:30 in game and it's all fucked. I removed it but when I reload my save it's still the same though.

Also it might be good idea to try Clear Sky out, just for the sake of completion. It's not THAT bad anymore, but easily ranking lowest out of the three. I'd recommend using the latest patch + these quick fixes as well:

I have no idea as I haven't tried Priboi Story myself yet, but assuming it's as moddable as vanilla/ZRP/AMK, then the Absolute Nature & Structures -packs and Shaders Max should at least work fine.
Does the Priboi come with Blowouts? That feature sometimes causes problems with weather overhauls. AMK works fine with Stalker Weather Overhaul 2.22 with its compatibility fix, and in general it should work with things better than the newer 3.1

in that case try first without SWO.

If things work fine, do a backup of your gamedata and see if SWO2.22 screws something up. It comes compatibility fixes for AMK and OL, but not for anything else as far as I know. If there is problems you could try and see if those fixes apply to Priboi as well, but the last choice would be playing without them.
