We failed each other.

In the beginning things could have been beautiful. "/v/", a place isolated from the world. a virtual environment where people who love videogames could be free to talk about what they loved without the usual faults of the world at large.

We were given a chance for a world free of all the things we hated about the games media at large. This would be our games forum, our choices. A podium where we can talk, be honest and share opinions and insights without the childish arguing or hatred instilled by mainstream media in us.
/v/ Guilds, clans and game organisations. A place for true brotherhood and camaraderie. We would always have friends to play with and the experience would be glorious.

It was a grand dream, equalled in grandeur only by its colossal failure. Like Rapture, like the Ark, like the Vaults and so many others it failed. Not through design. Not through faults in the system. It failed through the people. We made this mess.

We were given the chance at gaming utopia and we failed. ourselves. each other. and the anons that have not yet come to pass.

We failed you future anons. We are sorry.

We did not realise how far we had fallen till it was too late. god help us. god help us all.
