You expect prequels to explain a lot of backstory, but the ONLY thing it explains is how Luke became Professor Layton's apprentice. There's no explanation of why Emmy doesn't show up in the later games.
For all the time they spent hiding Descole's face and name from us, I was expecting it to be some big twist, but no. He's a new character.
Layton games always ride the ragged edge between acceptable and retarded, but they were always awesome enough to compensate. Last Specter was not.
Decent puzzle collection, but very disappointing story.
