>>127685852>unrealistic expectations, or maybe just trolling the fanbaseYou know about Devil KINGS? Basically, Capcom wanted to release this Dynasty Warriors lookalike named "Sengoku BASARA" in the West, but they feared it'd be received as a Dynasty Warriors clone, so they changed the title, cut 30% of the playable characters and decided to not advertise shit. It didn't sell, what a surprise!
The game spawned a Japan-only franchise that met with decent success and, after two PSP spin-offs, a Street Fighter-esque arcade game and two anime shows, Capcom decided to bring part 3 to the West. This time they didn't change names or cut characters, but they still didn't bother to advertise.
It sold 10,000 copies or so they say.
Now, an add-on game called Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage has been released in Japan, and Capcom won't bring it here. Why? The last one didn't sell enough.
Well, 10k sold copies isn't too sexy, I know. Except, Capcom said they were expecting to sell at least 50 times as much. Think about it for a minute.
>ill shoe u inafoonay!Remember Inafune, the Devil May Cry guy? He left Capcom for "artistic differences" (read: he wanted to make good games).
Capcom's reaction to this was cancelling MegaMan Legends 3, a 3DS exclusive and the much-anticipated 3rd chapter in the MegaMan Legends saga, created by the guy.
Also, since this year marks the 25th anniversary of Inafune's most famous creation (MegaMan, duh), there...hasn't been any announcement of any new MegaMan game, save a cameo appearance in Street Fighter vs Tekken.
It's almost like Capcom is trying to be as petty as possible. It's not like they'll lose out on money, since an army of tourneyfags will always be there to buy the new Hyper Street Fighter IV Plus: Second Arcade Edition at day one.
