Yeah, elite set of villains each with their own personality? I love that shit.

Especially since they take time developing each bosses personality before you defeat them.

Personally I like

>Insanely powerful villain mocking and taunting you the entire game
>Game is party based
>Main character vows to kill him with his own hands
>Your fight is an actual duel, no outside intereference

I LOVE duels in games. Especially when the combat is good, makes me feel like a beast.

I like how when you first get to Talon and you've got next to no powers and the music is all mysterious and foreboding. But once you've explored the world more and regained your arsenal the song starts to get more badass. I LOVED that shit so much.

Two examples I can think of, Girahim in SS, and Credo in DMC4.

Witcher 2 did it brilliantly, runes in your blade cause symbols to appear near the hilt, armour additions are actually shown.

The final stage of the game needs to be reached by unlocking a door or having different keys.
This door is visitable since the beginning of the game, and you know that behind that shit there is the end of the game. But to go through it you must complete the whole game.

I dunno. It just feels..good.
The "door" can be everything ofcourse. Even a boat that needs to be repaired to work again could be the thing. Even a broken portal or stuff like that.

It's a pretty easy game to just pick up and play, think Kingdom Hearts/Dark Cloud gameplay

Also the characters are all really cool and you can play through 2 stories as each of the main characters, one focusing on regular combat and monster transformation, the other using magic.

God Hand and No More Heroes had good examples of these where you actually got an emotional connection to them after killing or defeating them

I also like playing this for those kind of boss where you are almost down for the count, but you're holding on. When I play this I remember now why I am going through such trials. The adventures I had, the friends I gained, the friends I lost, for her, for me, for everyone else... now I remember why I am here.

Yes, that might be true. I actually got PS2 rather late (about a year ago) and I played all of those three games in the timeframe of maybe 3-4 days. I played 5 first, then Zero and 4 in the end. I remember thinking that 5 and Zero were beyond awesome, but that 4 was quite a letdown.

Muramasa completely avoided this. Your skills was the skill the other Oboro style user was going to use, so avoiding blocking and attacking was hell because both of you are experts in doing everything. Except for the screen-wide attack, unblockable until that fight. If you use it, THEY use it as well and neither is damaged.

Also, you can actually unlock the blade for their special attack.
