But it worked well with the pacing of the game.
Also the puzzles in this game were headache inducing: simple in design, but full of distractions and misleading paths and that one little hint you managed to overlook.
Keep in mind, that was also one of the first puzzle games to used a Psuedo 3D design. So there were all sorts of tricks like trap door pits that lead you to new rooms on lower floors. and secret paths hidden by bridges or treetops.
Not to mention this is the first game to use the hookshot, the gloves that pick up large rocks, and dashing boots.
There's a lot of techniques and tricks people had to learn about for the first time.
Fuck I'm only just thinking about all of this stuff as I'm writing this down. I really take for granted how what an impact this game had.
