I'm about 2 hours into Half-Life 2.

I LOVE IT. I'm on the part when you get to ride that awesome land/water air boat thing. The only thing I dislike so far is the underwater puzzles. Shit is annoying. Everything else, from the shooting, puzzles, (not underwater) is PERFECT.
It's also insane how the game came out 7 years ago and the graphics are better then many recent games.

Anyway, I have a few questions, as this is my first Half Life game.

First: Who is that suited guy at the beggining? I saw him again while I was driving the boat, creepy as hell. Also, what was the plot of Half Life 1? What led up to the events of Half Life 2?
