The second problem is that, let's say for a minute here he IS directly insulting you, he's not insulting you and saying that your argument is invalid because of that insult.
Here's a handy little comparison.
Ad hominem: "This man is incorrect because he is a duck fucker."
Not ad hominem: "This man fucks ducks. Also, he is incorrect."
Not ad hominem: "This man's employees fucks ducks. He is also incorrect."
Not ad hominem: "This man is incorrect because his employee fucks ducks."
