No story, nothing, no upgrades, no endearing characters, no goals but to beat the levels.

No. It's not hard at all, there's no consequences and its one of those games where you could just fall to advance. The best description I heard about this game was from some anon in a previous thread who compared it to Portal, but they got rid of the glados, the companion cube, turrets, and basically everything that gave the game any personality.

It is literally impossible to fail. No enemies, no danger. If you jump off a platform attempting to end your suffering you just appear back safe and sound.
There's no careful timing of jumps. The "puzzle" element consists of hitting the rotate view button whenever you get stuck until a route appears.

I have nothing against Fez but this rustled my jimmies. There is no universe in which "like a 2D Myst" is an intelligible description of a game, especially since your reason to compare it to Myst is because it has puzzles.

It is like Myst in that it is about exploration around a world finding puzzles which require shit loads of note taking, translation of languages and number systems. A lot of the puzzles require slightly lateral thinking, not just spinning the world until you win. In my book that is a lot like Myst.

The puzzle are rarely about the platforming elements so the platforming is more about exploration than puzzle sloving so it makes sense to have no real danger in the platforming sections.

I keep hearing that Fez has puzzles and you have to do actual thinking other than turn the camera yet I've seen no examples of it at all.

Every single video I see is someone turning the camera and voila they win. I've seen no one in the literal trillions of threads Fish made here saying anything about any part of the game other than "it's good" or "it's myst." I will take that as the game has probably just a handful of real puzzles and they will probably be really fucking easy to solve.

I was thinking about it. But the 360 exclusives just really appeal to me. There's like 2 PS3 exclusives I want. But there's like 5 or 6 exclusives that I really want that are 360 only and yes, Halo is one of those.

I'm currently doing a puzzle in it where I've had to translate a question from the game's language and answer the riddle using blocks that I can move which have letters on the sides of them. Should I just spin the world around and around until it solves itself because that is all the game is isn't it? There are loads of different types of puzzles using codes, the rumble on the controller to set when you shift the world and stuff involving being in the right place at the right time of day to name a few more examples. The game is huge.

Not all. Portal 2, Borderlands and LA Noire for instance are actually better on PS3.

And a lot of the more recent multiplats like RDR, AssCreed and Vanquish games are pretty much identical on both consoles.

Maybe it is because the demo is first portion of the game and a lot of this stuff doesn't come in until later in the game, it's map works a lot like Metroidvanias but instead of abilities you find puzzle keys which teach you how to solve different types of puzzle. There are quite a few secret puzzles in the opening you can't solve until later.

You have to do all the secret puzzles to 100% the game and get the final ending. They are not required to finish the game but there are a lot of puzzles beyond those that are required which are more for the fun of the puzzle solving.

As for the Metroidvania elements play it and find out rather than just doubting it with no knowledge of the game past the opening.
