But I am vehemently against these child sex laws because I mean you can look at the registry, only 1% of registered offenders have ever actually committed a crime. Yet all of them feel the full force of the shame and the consequences of being on that list.
If you're a convicted sex offender for example, you can't work any job where you are exposed to customers. If your neighbor or whoever happens to walk through your yard beside your house, it could be considered a breach of your probation/parole even though you didn't initiate the close of distance...
There's lots of reasons to care about the sex offender registry. It's not about being an offender, it's about the fact that you can become an offender without willingly or intently attempting to commit said act.
You don't have to possess it, you just have to have once been exposed to it. And then the court system tends to work the opposite as it should, where you're guilty until proven innocent.
When was the last time you heard about an open shut case of child mollestation/sex offences/etc. You have to fight tooth and nail to defend yourself, because right from the start the jury, the judge, and the prosecutor are all against you. Sometimes even your defense is against you, and will say some stupid fucking things yet act like they're defending you and out for your greater good.
There's LOTS of reasons to oppose this kind of shit. Personal bias is a drop in the bucket, you dipshit.
