With the exception of some games EA has made good games like Mirror's edge and Dead Space I guess. Compared to Nexon who is the powerhouse in F2P MMO's it wouldn't mix they would assimilate those franchises and I believe that's the only problem people have. If anything EA wanted this. I recall from one interview the CEO of EA wanted to make ammo in BF3 micro transactions

Even though there is lot of Nexon bashing on this board, Im sure at least 25% of the people here are playing one of their games. I myself used to play Maplestory. Their payment system in super effective and they make a ton of money. You have to give them credit for the speed at which new content is added.
That being said they have the worst customer support EVER, and their games are always full of bugs.

Seems like such an odd fit though. why would they purchase EA of all companies. What would they even do with all the franchises and personnel. Im sure the end result will be, shit company + shit company = shit company.

Also, if there are any pay2win items in the cash shop, they invest so much money into servers that it makes it next to impossible for it to become unbalanced.

True, it would be almost impossible to run Steam at all with out some degree of DRM, otherwise no company would agree to sell their recently releases games in it. And at least Steam isn't very intrusive, compare it to EA's DRM, look at Origin's outright spyware system.

CD Projekt only manages to run an online store with out DRM because they only sell old games that the publishers don't give a fuck about anymore, CD Projekt's own games and Indie games. And the lack of DRM in it does turn a lot of publishers off of GoG.

Ubisoft seems to be fine with it. After stupidly large amounts of DRM they finally realized that no DRM is the best DRM; Rayman Origins had no DRM on PC, and they put Assassin's Creed on GoG.

Pretty much this. Case in point was Crysis 2. Crytek bitched that Crysis 1, despite really good sales, got pirated to hell and back; so they made the game for the consoles. Which got pirated even far worse and sold terribly on the consoles; but did better on the PC. PC gamers still got blamed for the piracy of Crysis 2, despite giving Crytek more money.

The hypocrisy is ludicrous. So it makes no difference if we get blamed again, the PC market is extremely robust and can handle it and emerge from it just fine.

Analogically PC gaming is like Germany's economy, it can take many hits and bail out several times and still keep going fine; but its got a limit to its patience when it comes to assholery and failure, beyond which it simply gives not a fuck.

Microsoft is too big to be bought out by anyone, though obviously not as big as they used to be. I don't want them to die either, because a future where Apple has operating system monopoly is one that I never want to live in. They are putting hardware based DRM on the new Ubisoft game.

So if you change your hard ware you have to do a clean install, and you only get 3 installs per copy.
