So I've been contemplating how a new Metroid game would go, like "how they could make it original".
First off, I would like it if the gameplay would play like a third person action/adventure title, like Armored Core. It would be a complete change of pace from the previous games. HOWEVER, at no point would Samus ever remove her suit, thus automatically saving it from possible "Other-M-itis".
Then give her some cool beams that you could customize and combine, like having an ice beam that, when charged with certain beams, freezes in place and gives you a bridge to stand on, or with other beams, turns into a giant spiked ball and chain made of ice.
Then focus on the music and graphics, and FINALLY the story. Have it be a sequel to fusion, where she has to fight the Federation. YES, THIS MEANS SHE HAS TO FIGHT PEOPLE. Fire everyone at Nintendo who is too much of a chicken pansy to allow this, then go through with it. It's time Samus matured past meaningless censorship.
Then have her fight the Space Pirates at the same time, which will span across the galaxy at multiple planets, each as big and explorative as Zebes was.
Then, at the end of the game, have her fight a new Metroid Queen, then expose the queen to something similar to Phazon, then fuse it with a Mother Brain prototype, then throw Ridley DNA into it for no reason, and badabing! You have a final boss. After beating it, that's the only time you see Samus remove part of her suit, and you see her face. No zero suit, because sexualizing her leads to making the game suck.
GOTY, billions of copies of sold, Metroid saved.
