>>140693680But at least the NES could compete successfully with other console systems like the Coleco Vision, and the Sega Master System (I also had one of the first gaming computers the IBM PC Junior).
Not only compete but WIN! Nintendo had a great gaming system (when it first launched). PC graphics were far better but not by such a huge difference.
Now a days the difference between PC and Nintendo Wii is lightyears. It is such a huge gap that there is no point in even attempting to make comparisons between PC gaming and Nintendo gaming.
And judging by the specs of the next generation Nintendo console it is guaranteed to remain that way. I mean this is all speculation but I am going to wager that Nintendo is going to stick with the old person kiddy babby and aspie gaming market. It remains to be seen what the new Sony, XBOX and Nintendo specs actually are at release.
At least Sony is trying. The cell processor was a step in the right direction. Blue ray player. Microsoft probably doesn't want to get left in the console dust.
But Nintendo seems content sitting in a pair of shit filled diapers playing in the sandbox while everyone else is jumping over their heads on BMX bikes.
Nintendo has a chance here to be the big boys in the console market. I just think we are not going to see it happen. They have the opportunity to set the console standard for gaming once again.
Sticking with the name Wii is a pretty solid indication that they have no desire to steer the gaming ship away from last generation land.
Keeping the Wii name shows us that we should not expect anything revolutionary or standard setting from them. The most we will get is a iPad with some thumbpads glued onto it for a controller.
