>>141361304Well think about how slow and heavy it feels to throw a punch as Isaac in the suit. Or get up after you've been knocked down.
The roll could work bro. But it should be used as a last resort, because it should take Isaac a while (a 'while' in gametime) to recover from the roll and stand back up. He could give a desperate yell and simply throw himself to the side, then drag himself back to his feet. It would be like a 'tactical knockdown' to distance yourself. But if you screw up the timing, the Necros can simply fuck you up while you're on your hands and knees.
You're right about the heavy clunky nature of the armor, but I think it could work well with a roll, as long as the devs remember how cumbersome the suit is.
As for the cover system, I disagree. If the roll adds a degree of safety to the gameplay, then cover fully enforces it.
All this is just speculation however, since we don't know what kind of new, nasty enemies Visceral has in mind. Perhaps the new necros will be balanced perfectly with the new mechanics.
>you take cover behind some ruined piece of ship metal as the Unitologist fanatics open fire>suddenly a necro bursts from a roof duct and scuttles towards you, still on the ceiling>where the fuck is your cover now? The necro drops down, blade first>you roll desperately to the side, the necro just missing you>and now you're in the open, with both kinds of enemies to deal with
