Oh god, I've had nightmare Christmases liek that. Where you get parts of a gift set you wanted from different people at different times. Like a console without games and controllers or just the game. My family did that every xmas. They'd also use boxes from past xmas gifts to wrap stuff in. You never knew what you were getting even when you saw the box. Lots of disappointments. Especailly the year when my mom divorced my dad, and we moved out and were poor. I had my usual list of games and new console. The family still did the xmas game of different boxes and boxes of rocks in with the gifts. Unfortunately, I didn't get any games or console. I got nothing but clothing that year; mostly socks. the look on my mother's face when she realized I was so disappointed because we were so poor. It haunted me and made me realize how good life was before.

I did a similar thing. I found the presents a day before all completely wrapped. I was like 4-6 years old or so. I unwrapped EVERYTHING. I had no real clue what I was doing. All I knew was PRESENTS!

I can still remember my mom crying for hours because I'd ruined the surprise.

It was surprisingly fun but damn. I never did get a gbc until high school as means of catching up. It kind of sucks cause I spent a lot of time in the hospital and a gameboy would have made it arguably less shitty.

My dad used to make me lend my games to my cousins who lived with us in the same apartment building. They always treated their games like shit. Even worse for stuff they borrowed. The worst however was when my dad made me lend them my Mario Paint game with the mouse and plastic pad.

When I got it back, the mouse didn't work anymore and the hard plastic pad was destroyed. It looked like they got a retarded chicken to dance on it.

Felt like a real asshole as I couldn't appreciate the gift as much as I should have when I was expecting a new computer. Though, Guitar Hero 2 was the pinnacle of the franchise.

My aunt bought me a new computer a few months later for my 18th birthday. I bought the parts online and assembled it myself rather than buying an Alienware.

... I nearly shit myself in glee. Then my parents sat down next to me and gave me their present.

I was gonna be a big brother.

Best fucking christmas ever. Woke up christmas morning to a Terran Marine toy from when SC first came out, and a shit-ton of Crash Bandicoot and Zelda toys.

I never got a PS1 / PS2 / PSP / DS / N64 for christmas because my father bought them for me at release.

When I reached 18 I asked for a car and my father laughed at me he paid for half of my self-built computer ($1000) instead. Its now an ongoing joke and I ask him every year.

I'm the latter with gifts. People in my fam usually look forward to the gifts I get them since I get stuff that fits them. I put so much thought into it. Now I have my phone connected to my PS3 remote and have a wireless HDMI thing I made myself.

Emulating N64 games using a PS3 Pad and my HTC Vivid on my HDTV are the best things ever.

Although I have to leave the phone relatively close to the receiver, or there's latency.

I got them, they were actually fucking horrible. They felt uncomfortable in my ears because they had these sticky-in bits and the ipod controls were on the left-hand side, not the right hand side.

Eventually they broke and I replaced that shit with the iPod headphones I wanted in the first place, and couldn't be happier. They're way more comfortable and actually sounded better.

That kid has nothing on me, when I got mine for Christmas. Only mine is not recorded. Ahhh, probably my happiest memory of every christmas ever. I was always spoiled when I was younger, but that present was probably the best one I can remember.

On a related note, OP. I remember buying my first Pokemon game. I had to wait for my parents to be able to buy me one. Probably a month or two, while everyone else was playing it. The day finally came and I went to store. I get to the game section and no Pokemon to be found. I start looking behind other games like crazy, feeling sad and disapointed, only to find the last copy in the entire store. I felt so happy words cannot describe.

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Ruby but when the next proper one comes for the 3DS with a bundle, i swear i'm buying a second 3DS. By the way, who else had this GBA SP model?
