I personally liked ego, then I liked jons things more and forgot about ego. And now they play games together and have fun. This process tickles my inner sleepover child. Sitting deep into the night with a friend and playing games. And two funny guys I really like do it for me.

I don't see why ANYONE should complain about this.

Sure they are bad at some games. They talk the entire time. I want to see you talk and make a meaningful conversation while playing good. Thats hard man.

This shit right here. I don't want rules, or people to "watch their language" or not be racist or anything. But negative opinions and idioms have a tendancy to lose their sarcasm and irony over time, and /v/ is a perfect example of how dangerous that shit is. But when a large group starts finding something acceptable or funny, even if it's just as a joke, it opens the doors for people to take it seriously and not fear reprimand for it. It's the same with racism off the internet. My multicultural friends and I think it's fucking hilarious, but even us making remarks about each other in self-aware parody still just desensitizes people to something that is still kind of a big deal that fucks up lives.

But what a lot of people in this thread are trying to argue that that underlying endearingness used to be at the forefront of /v/, instead of this unfathomable quality that keeps people coming back. It honestly used to be a pretty fantastic place for game discussion. People were still angry, mean, insulting, but it didn't derail threads and drag the whole board down into a circlejerk that glorifies shitposting as a culture. It's the people that take /v/ and use it as part of their personal identity that are the problem with the board, because they don't give a fuck about the content, they just want THEIR memes, THEIR idioms, they want someone else on the internet who is an enemy. It's a belonging thing, instead of "this is a place where people are super honest because of anonymity and has excellent discussions as such".
