My first Paper Mario game was the Thousand Year Door. You were only allowed to get two or so Whacka bumps (probably because they broke the game so badly) and the dialogue wasn't too interesting. I play this later and just keep hitting him and hitting him, just to see what would happen. He got more and more badly off but I just couldn't stop. I wanted to know what he would say next, even though I felt shittier each time. Eventually he was gone. Not just avoiding me, he was never coming back, he was dead. The little Toad girl near the train station was concerned for him, not knowing the beloved hero Mario had murdered this precious creature. I had something like 15 Whacka Bumps and I never used them.
Fucking Paper Mario was the game that made me take a good look at myself and feel bad for my decisions more than any other game I played.
