>>177094152It's a typical Disney film really - we start with the hero who has a problem, he goes on an adventure to solve it, a bad guy tries to get in his way but fails, and the day is saved. It's no different here.
The first half of the film is filled was just pure awesomeness for gamers. There are tons and tons of references and inside jokes, some very apparent and some well hidden. Once you reach the half way point and the Sugar Rush racing stuff starts to kick in though, it's like Disney just suddenly scrapped the whole aspect of video games. It still has the occasional few references, especially based on Mario Kart and racers in general at this point, as well as glitches and bugs that occur in games, but other than that it lost the touch the first half of the film had.
I also think that maybe the Sugar Rush segments could have received a bit less screen time and they did drag on a bit. It's not a bad movie by any means and I did enjoy it, but maybe the second half let it down slightly. Or at least they could have filled the latter with many more jokes for the gamers.
