No roleplaying. FOR the fucking love of god, do NOT roleplay in /x/.
Look, this is my first night back after a couple of years. I'm not saying /x/ was exactly good before, since we got raided all the time, etc. But back then it was about wondering the great unknowns, about exploring the mysteries of the universe, about speculating, or plainly making fiction and OC, like creepypastas, pictures, etc.
The difference between then and now, is that now I see crap like this:
>>10142491 This guy setti claims to have been chosen by a 1600 year old organization who bound him to some demon and he has been bestowing paranormal abilities but now they consume 1% of your karma (if you fail the saving throw, I assume) etc fucking cetera.
There is no wondering there. There is no speculation, there are no questions, there is no exploration, no discussion. Just certainty, just faggots who take these facts at face value, even when they disagree, they disagree with equally idiotic certainty, such as "No, you're doing it wrong because demons don't [hurr]". No, you gloriously deluded faggot, you're just as wrong as setti because you have wrongly turned unknowns into knowns, questions into answers, uncertainty into certainty. THIS MAKES YOU A ROLEPLAYER.
Go to /tg/ and start a Quest thread. Run a fucking ARG. But do NOT roleplay in /x/.
REPLACING THE "WHAT IF"S WITH "I KNOW FOR A FACT"S IS THE CANCER THAT IS KILLING /x/
Fuck. Maybe it's already too late.
Now off to page 15 with me.

>Is the OP claiming something paranormal as if it was a known fact? Does he talk to demons, manipulate people's auras, conjure Tulpas, or does ANYTHING whatsoever that qualifies him as a class A moron for leaving Randi's million dollars on the table? Then it's cancer. Sage, report, ban, fuck, ignore.

But for the love of Jesus, there are no tulpas. Do not act as if these things have been proven. I'm not saying everything in /x/ must be debunked, I'm not saying the purpose of /x/ is to be skeptic. I'm cool with suspending disbelief, I'm cool with opening my mind, I'm cool with wondering and speculating, but I am NOT cool with "true believers" who already know for a fact that paranormal things ARE this or that way.
This turning of questions into answers make us disingenuous at best, roleplayers, trolls, or idiots, at worst.
Let's at least TRY to get /x/ back to where it was. Let's go back to WONDERING WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON, instead of DECLARING WE ALREADY KNOW.
That's the difference. Pretending we already know, pretending we are bound to demons or are able to summon tulpas, etc........ is cancer.

It's not about me.
It's about you.
Life has let you down.
You are a wonderful person, kind, gentle and well-meaning, who daydreams of a better world and wishes hard to believe there is something out there, something magical, something extraordinary that raises you above the dull and the painful. I want to believe too.
But there is a difference between wanting to believe and believing. There is a difference between wondering if something is or isn't and knowing it for a fact.
Knowing things for a fact actually closes all avenues of inquiry. There is no further need of exploration, the truth has been found, pack up and go home. Is no different from religion.
/x/ can be the antithesis of that. /x/ can be about exploring, about wondering, about speculating the huge and beautiful unknowns in life. Everything that is paranormal is everything that is interesting, and we come here for a good scare, or for insightful discussion. We all want to believe. But we won't believe without reason.
Believing without reason, believing out of wishful thinking, makes us roleplayers. It ruins exploration, and it's cancer.
I'm not attacking you personally. I'm hoping you will question yourself again, as you surely did at the beginning, for in doing so your mind has the chance to actually grow.

I share them. I tell others what happened, I hear what they speculate, I wonder. Wondering makes me explore, exploring makes me wiser. This isn't about believers vs skeptics.
This is about people who know things for certain and are therefore done learning vs people who want to continue exploring and continue wondering.
Again, it's a simple rule:
If you see something in /x/ stated as a fact, you should oppose it. Oppose the uber skeptic who says nothing paranormal could possibly ever be real, and oppose the autistic roleplayer who says his tulpa is giving him blowjobs and he can punch you in the aura. Both views prevent discussion, both views curtail exploration, both views are laughably close minded, and both views should be fought as cancer.
That's all I'm saying.

I haven't samefagged a single fucking time. My point is simple, and although I grow tired, I'll repeat it one more time: Think of me as a guy who was in a coma for two years. I woke up, and I returned home. To the place I used to know as home. But it's changed, now. All the windows have been boarded up and replaced with painted landscapes. There is a hobo by the front door, pissing on a crowd of people who alternatively thank him for the healing magical water, or curse him for the burning magical poison. A few people are locked up in rooms upstairs, and seem sad and resigned to the fact the house is now a shithole. "It never was good enough, to begin with" they say. Or "the hobo and his cult outnumber us 10 to 1, and more will come in the summer. Best get used to it". No, I won't get fucking used to it. I used to care for this place. Least I can do is a fucking rage thread, and a plea to kick out the goddamn hobo, and everyone who drinks his piss!

I think I've made my point, with this thread. I don't see the opportunity to say anything that hasn't been said, so I will take my leave. But before I go, here's practical goddamn advice: If you see a thread where they take anything paranormal as a fact, report it. Saging has symbolical value, but what really matters is reporting. Mods and janitors won't really care to read the thread to find out why it was reported. They're too busy. They will only see an abnormal number of reports, and hit a button to delete it, problem solved. Do this consistently. Keep it up for three months, and the board will change. If enough of you do this, /x/ will be saved. If not enough of you do this, then /x/ doesn't deserve to be saved. Give the house to the hobo, and become /x/iles in /tg/ and elsewhere. That is all.

It's a nerdy kids' playground. More so women, which is by no surprise nor coincidence that there is so many poor, amateur fiction writing. all over.
It's a very similar experience to the new 4chan addons and tools; You start to see the obvious samefags that is SHOWN and spelled out. When people make some thread about some "experience", they fool only other kids and preteens, because it is NOT hard for someone who has writing/editing experience to read between the lines and decipher common cognitive pitfalls, loose ends, broken train of thought, word structure, thought patterns etc etc and notice a story that belongs on
fanfiction.net It is kids, kids with nothing to do, lonely kids, kids with issues that can be health, mental, social, or any combination thereof.
This thread SHOULD be stickied but 4chan's mods are about a cult as any.

Some things are known to some people. some people don't have to speculate or question because they have experienced it. If you've ever come into contact with a demon, you know, there's no question or doubt. If you have an "ability", you know it, there is no question. questions are for those who have not yet seen. frustration is caused by envy or disbelief.

1. take an object you hold dear and stare into it.
2. realize how much of your life has passed in the blink of an eye, and how the rest soon will as well.
3. feel more awake, as if you have drifted through life.
4. As you begin to feel awake, you will give off a unique energy signal, which it will link to and grant you your wish. You may feel a moment of anxiety, fear, dread, sorrow, or rage.

Hell, the primary reason why I avoid /x/ most days is because it's nothing but creepypasta, and sometimes I all I want is maybe a thread for actual ghost photos, or a discussion on making a Vampire Slaying Kit (no joke, I seriously want to do this as a contingency), or maybe a thread on what the hell people are seeing in the night sky, or whether abduction claims are hoaxes, bad dreams, or actual horrific experiences.
I don't want another goddamn tarot thread, either, what am I supposed to do with that? "Hey! Read my cards! I want to know that I'll continue to be a sad sack of shit!" No thanks.

OP, I find it pretty easy to agree with you on how this board has just gone to shit. Looking back through this thread alone just reminds me of how stupid everyone on it is anymore. For example, we have this setti kid just throwing the phrase "umad" as well as his roleplay powers around.>waiting to laugh at his response after this post A lot of the threads I see anymore are usually started by: -Some RP'ing trip kid or anon about their mystic ability to grant wishes, read past lives, tarot or some other horseshit with the mindset they're 100% correct with everything they say -Some teenager or preteen off of the Random board with a generic skeleton or ghost thread (can't believe they still find it funny, but oh well.) -Some idiot starting a thread that isn't even relevant to the damn board (paranormal) -Threads like what OP mentioned, full on believers of Tulpas and other shit nobody but the OP truly believe/Some skeptic douche bag who will say "har har har prove that X isn't real", and then move on to deny it anyways. -Somebody's stream on another site -Some lame copy/paste saying "OOOooOOOOooooaaaaaa you'll die if you don't repost!" The list can go on, but that's all I feel like reminding myself of what you asses post here on /x/. The amount people on this board that created/adapted to the shit hole that has become /x/ are obviously going to make it harder to change it, even slightly. Let's face it, they all act like a poor, generic sageman whenever a thread calling out their idiocy and shit threads surfaces. /x/ is now just full of (wannabe) trolls, shitposters, liars, delusional idiots, and skeptics fucking with the board for laughs. Have fun "dealing with it", guys.

>>10146581 Yeah, I'm on board with that. To me, the paranormal's so fraught with subjective experience that there are very, very few absolutes.
Anonymous
>>10146631 Isn't that part of the fun?
I'm fairly skeptical about any paranormal experiences I hear, but I can't help but inquire further. My curiosity gets the best of me. Faulty information is better than none. You can build on faulty information, and come up with something better. With nothing you remain stagnant.
I'm not sure what I'm talking about anymore.
