The average American earns 1.3 million during their lifetime. It's important to spend less money - otherwise, you'll be 75 years old and still working.

However clipping coupon, buying shitty clothes from wal-mart, and driving a shit box of a car isn't very appealing. The question is - can we life a nice lifestyle without being a cheap Jew? You bet.

Introducing, the minimal life style. Buy high quality stuff, but very few of it. That way, you can buy nice things and save money at the same time.

How To Be A Real Life MacGyver

Let's be real here. If you're not using /diy/ to train yourself to become a real life MacGyver then you're doing it wrong. So let's help each other out with some tips and tricks to MacGyver the fuck out of anything and everything. And remember: If Ole Mac' has taught us anything it's that any piece of info, no matter how small, can still be highly useful in the right situation. Well, that and the fact that ingenuity > science. But I'm sure you already knew that.

I'll start with a very basic but useful bit of info that might come in handy incase you're ever on the run from Soviet spies or some shit and you need an inpromptu fire bomb. Just remember this: Non-dairy creamer is HIGHLY flammable. I'm sure you can figure out countless uses for this hot little tip on your own. Use your imagination.

Anyone know how to make a very simple log cabin? Also, is it possible to do it by yourself?

I'm thinking of buying a few acres of land up in the middle of the wilderness and then heading over there and building a little cabin. I have no idea how to make one though.

not sure if I should use shipping containers or concrete I have an area large enough to use say 2 shipping containers width wise as my space is limited.

I did find this online but $80k for a shelter is a shit ton of cash.

For christmas my brother gave me one of these, It's a frosted jar with a solar panel and light sensor on the lid, it soaks up sunlight, then lights an LED inside in the dark. Pretty cool.
His birthday is coming up and I'd like to make him something. Any good gift Ideas? (no knitting please)
