This forum is under attack by spammers posting often irrelevant or off-topic news articles when there is a perfectly good text board for news elsewhere.

Bottom line is it made life better for Africans and at least gave them some kind of civilization. It's a sad thing that it's seen as evil. Most of the Whites that lived in Africa had good intentions.

[1387043121] Vote-Buying 'Acceptable'

No.109638 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Many Indonesians think vote-buying 'acceptable'

More than 40 per cent of Indonesian voters surveyed consider politicians buying support at elections acceptable.

Survey findings from Jakarta-based pollster Indikator come just months before national polls in the graft-ridden country.

The survey showed that 41.5 per cent of 15,600 people interviewed did not have a problem accepting cash or a gift from would-be lawmakers, AFP reported.

57.9 per cent thought vote-buying was unacceptable, while a tiny fraction were undecided on the matter.

But doling our money does not guarantee victory for a candidate, the poll showed.

More than 55 per cent said they would accept the cash, but would not necessarily vote for the person giving it.

The survey "shows our democracy is at an alarming stage as vote-buying at the grass roots has been found to be very high", Indikator's executive director Burhanuddin Muhtadi said.

"This will threaten the country's democracy."

The survey, conducted in 39 electoral districts in September and October, also found that voters who lived in rural areas were more tolerant of vote-buying than those in urban areas.

Legislative elections will take place in April and presidential polls in July.

Indonesia is ranked 114th out of 177 countries and territories in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index. A number one ranking means the least corrupt.

What do you guys think of the guy? Anyone here read his manifesto? I found it very interesting quite scary how a lot of his rhetoric hit quite close to home. His assessment of modern day liberalism is right on the nail. One thing I'm not sure about is what his response to technology potentially saving the human race from something such as an asteroid would be.

hold up

never mind syria, never mind poverty across the whole world, never mind climate change, never mind brutal dictatorships, failed states and failing democracies, never mind terrorist mass murder in Kenya, never mind Afghanistan, never mind the rights of women in the middle east, never mind rampant corruption and crime in our financial sector, never mind the instability in south sudan, never mind global pollution and smog in china, never mind corporate corruption, never mind government debt and the failing euro

the most important thing right now is identity politics, white privilege, slut walks, that is what everyone is talking about on tumblr right now

the other day a lady clutched her purse when i got in the elevator with her

white people never have to put up with this, they have it so good

the other day a cop told women to watch how much they drink to lower the risk of sexual assault

what a bigot!

the other day someone called me a man when really I am a woman trapped in a man's body

how insensitive!

these are real problems right here

thinking about giving money to unicef or the red cross?

STOP YOU RACIST FASCIST ASSHOLE

you are oppressing historically downtrodden and disadvantaged minorities and women here in America by being so privileged and they are more entitled to your money than some orphan in the slums of Dhaka you SHITLORD

MEXICAN justice assaults fellow judges

MEXICO CITY - A Mexican judge sprang from his chair to push and punch two fellow justices during a court session, adding to a string of embarrassments for Mexico's scandal-plagued judicial system.

The head of the Morelos state appeals court said on Thursday that Justice Miguel Angel Falcon had brought shame to the court and faced possible impeachment, though he could not be immediately suspended following the Wednesday attack.

The stocky Mr Falcon got mad at judge Ruben Jasso, at one point calling him "stupid", then became enraged when Mr Jasso accused Mr Falcon of insulting him.

As Mr Jasso spoke, Mr Falcon leapt from his chair, rushed over to Mr Jasso and began pummelling him, apparently knocking him to the floor. Another justice who got in his way was knocked back into his chair.

The incident in Morelos follows a chain of other cases that have stained judicial reputations.

Earlier this month, an appeals court in the western state of Jalisco freed drug kingpin Rafael Caro Quintero, who had been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the 1985 kidnapping and killing of US Drug Enforcement Agency agent Enrique Camarena, and was 12 years short of finishing that sentence. But the court ordered his release on Aug 9, saying he had been improperly tried in a federal court for state crimes.

The attorney-general's office called the ruling "unsustainable", and last week asked the Supreme Court to step in.

On Tuesday, the National Human Rights Commission declared that a former chief justice of the nation's Supreme Court, as well as Mexico City court officials, had misused the justice system in a vendetta against the justice's former girlfriend, the mother of his two autistic children, keeping her in prison for about a year on trumped-up charges.

Former chief justice Genaro Gongora was fighting her lawsuit to gain higher child-support payments. He accused her of illegally keeping property meant for the two children, even though she lived with the boys.

America has a lot of problems, a vast portion of the population is uneducated, the health care systems are a joke, more money is spent on weapons and defense contracts on an already totally over sized and bloated military that on hospitals and schools combined.

What would fix this? Should we vote for the person who promises more hospitals and better health care, or the one who promises to wipe out our enemies in the war against terror? as a whole terrorism doesn't really affect us that much, more people die in car accidents that terrorist attacks and the biggest form of damage to our society is fear, fear that leads us to vote for people like George Bush, personally i think that the no 1 way to fix America is "Education", school should not only be free, but mandatory.

One problem with this is, the current supposed democratic government, if you can call it that, doesn't want people to be educated. i personally believe, call me a conspiracy theorist if you want, that the main presidential candidates aren't really running the country, but are in fact puppets.
It doesn't matter who you vote for these days you have the same behind the scenes bureaucracy controlling everything. American democracy makes me laugh...  the presidential candidates work for the same people and are just in it for the fame "look ma I'm the president", "oh just like your father" they will make anyone president these days, all they have to do is what they are told and take the flak, do u think George bush is intelligent enough to come up with any of these plans?? rhetorical question don't answer it. truth about American democracy is, it doesn't matter who you vote for you still voting for the same people, and they use popular media and charismatic leaders to herd the stupid average American to do there bidding, "thats why Americans will never be schooled and Christianity is so popular because its just another tool to control you!
