Hey everyone

I have a question about about animal behavior..

My Wiener Dog who is about 10 years old has odd licking habits. He never licks me on any part of my body except my nose. Is this odd? Every time he greets me, or says bye.. He licks me on the nose. All the time.

Also..

I had a Cocker Spaniel who kind of "lead" the pack. He died recently, and my Beagle took the alpha-dog position. My Wiener dog used to lick the Cocker Spaniel's eyes all the time.. I would have to pull him off of him a lot of times. He never did this to my other dogs.

Now, he licks the Beagle's eyes. Is this showing a form of submission?

None of this is really concerning to me, it's not a problem. I'm just merely curious.

Thanks

Okay, I've never actually posted in this board before, but I need the opinion of someone who has actually cared for both lizards and snakes, preferably one's with similar caring necessities,to explain to me which one is more trouble to take care of and why.

I personally think that lizards are more of a challenge, but a coworker of mine begs to differ, and he's being an asshole about it. Before I go and try to tell him off, I want to know if there is really any good point I could make, or if I'm just wrong.

Hey /an/, has anyone here got any patterns/instructions/ideas on how to make a diaper for a bird? I've got this single gosling (was the only one to hatch out of all the eggs put in the incubator) and it's really miserable without someone to cuddle, but it poops near constantly just like any other bird.

If anyone can help I'd be incredibly happy. I know there are places selling diapers for chickens and ducks but they're hilariously expensive and would take ages to arrive.

Hey /an/,
You may remember me and Turtwig from February when I got him at the NARBC in Arlington.
Well, he's doing great, despite his dumb name. Hes eating alot (we feed him mixed baby greens and fruit like grapes, kiwis, banana, strawberry, and the rare tomato), I take him outside almost daily, and he moves around quite a bit.

My question is, do tortoises like company? My local pet store ordered two russians (after I mentioned them), a male and a female. I was considering one as a friend for Turtwig, but I don't know if tortoises like other tortoises, especially if they're different species.

Any advice?

Also, were does this "feed them once a week" crap come from? Turtwig wants to eat multiple times a day, and he eats a lot. He also poops and pees a lot. Whats the benefit of not feeding them?

Hey, anyone got a clue what kind of spider this is? I did a google search of different kind of house spiders in my province and the closest matches I got were house spider and brown recluse spider. I'm no good with dichotomous keys or identifying spiders though, so, could someone verify this for me?

He seems like a cool guy.

Look at how big the eaglets are at in just 3 1/2 weeks! They're less like tiny bobble-headed puffballs and more like awkward, pinfeathery chickens.
