>>947076There are many different techniques, but id stay away from wet on wet as a beginner. Water management is the most frustrating problem. That and you cant really erase fully, so you need to be confident.
Start by taping your watercolor paper down, securely to a board. Make a very light drawing if you wish. Start with a round, that forms a decent point. Keep it damp, not soaked. Dilute your paint alot to start. and pick it up with just the tip. Your pressure will determine the width of the stroke. build up values slowly, and limit your pallete. When painting over dry previously painted areas, the paints will mix on the paper somewhat.
White is the paper, dont use white paint unless you are looking for a guache effect. The beauty is in transparency. Also be wary of black.
A cheap set of pans will work to start. Yarka, makes a less sucky set.
